Who is Mark White?

Mark was born in Falls Church, Virginia and spent the early years of his life moving due to his father's job with Naval intelligence. Because of this up until the age of 7 he lived in Florida, Panama and finally landed in the heart of New Mexico where he stayed until he was 18. After that, the wander lust took over and he followed in his father's footsteps by the US Navy and went to see the world. What followed was seven years, two cruises and two different aircraft carriers, the USS Nimitz and the USS Kittyhawk.

After leaving the military Mark worked at a number of jobs while he searched for what he really wanted to do. There had always been an interest in art, but no art education. That all changed after he saw Toy Story and realized that his love of cartoons, computers, and drawing could be merged. He put together a portfolio of charcoal drawings and was accepted into the Columbus College of Art and Design where he studied computer animation and fine arts, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Mark is now finishing his Masters in Computer Games Modeling at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

End of School

School is over for us now. Jamie's final review is finished and she passed while I did an informal review and will submit my finished thesis in December. I don't think it was a problem of time management, I realized one semester into my thesis that I had to rethink it because my original idea walked too fine of a line between realism and cartoon, horror and comedy. It was like a computer version of 'Shawn of the Dead' - great movie, but a lot of people didn't know what to make of it. So, I changed it and took on something that was just as complex but easier for anyone to look at and understand.

As far as my Penn Station thesis goes, I've gone back over the station model and stripped out almost 2,000 tris just from noticing small areas that slipped past me when I first began putting it together. My skills have improved it seems. Next up is creating the passenger cars for the train on the tracks and once those are done I just need some luggage, benches and some trash as well.

Other news is that we will soon be leaving sunny California and moving to Texas. While the weather out here is generally nice and all moving to Texas will put us closer to our families, friends, and back into areas that we both grew up in so for the rest of the month we will be packing up and deciding what is going with us and what gets to be donated to Goodwill.

Turnarounds Added!!!

Finally getting the turnaround animations added to the site. Right now there are only two up, but more will be coming over the weekend.
